Myrtle Island is a river island on a sharp bend of the May River, reached from Alljoy Road by a roadbed over a free-flowing culvert. Lots in this area are typically large, full of mature trees, heirloom azaleas, crepe myrtles and camellias, and many have been 'passed down' to the fortunate heirs of earlier owners.
